Asian Americans in Providence

This was my first large format film project, documenting Asian American friends in Providence within spaces of home and belonging, born from the fear and solidarity of the COVID-19 era. At nineteen, I witnessed the rise in anti-Asian violence and turned to photography to explore identity, community, and care. Over two months, I photographed friends in places that offered safety and comfort, discovering the intimacy of large format film and the quiet emergence of my creative voice. These portraits became the foundation for my senior thesis, Two Oceans, tracing resilience, connection, and the fragile beauty of belonging.
