Biography
Working between Providence, Rhode Island and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Kannetha Brown-Ngeth ត្នោត ង៉ែត កន្និថា is a Khmer kat (half-Cambodian) photographer and researcher. As the daughter of a Cambodian refugee, her work navigates and witnesses post-genocide identity, memory, and resistance.
She is a recipient of the US Fulbright Research Fellowship (Cambodia, 2026-27), the Rhode Island Foundation Beatrice S. Demers Language Fellowship (Cambodia, 2025), and the Interlace Grant (2024). Her work was featured in the New York Times, Hyperallergic, and Rolling Stone. She has exhibited nationally, and will be artist-in-residence at Bossbha’s House (Battambang, 2026-27) and Hyde Park Arts Center (Chicago, 2027). She earned her BFA in Photography with Departmental and Academic Honors from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she received several awards for her artwork and research on the Cambodian genocide.
